PLAN OF THE DAYS
Thursday July 26
1200 Noon: Registration begins in hotel lobby and Hospitality Room
stocked with coffee, cold drinks and snacks opens. This is where the
reunion starts. Relax here and get reacquainted with old friends, make
new friends and welcome the first time attendees. Because of liquor
liability considerations, private alcoholic beverages are not allowed in
the hospitality room. Please cooperate in this important matter.
5:00 PM:: Mexican Kicker welcome reception begins. A cash bar will be
available for your sipping pleasure. It would be a shame to be this
close to Mexico and not sample some of the "South of the
Border" culture. Therefore, the reception will be with a Mexican
Theme with some traditional Mexican style hors d'oeuvres for your
snacking pleasure. This will be a fun evening in a relaxed and casual
atmosphere. Cost of the reception is included in the price of Option A
only.
Friday July 27:
7:30 AM-8:30AM: Breakfast is on your own today. Eat at your leisure
during this hour, keeping in mind when the tour departs. .
9:00 AM: Hospitality Room Opens with fresh coffee. Cold drinks and
snacks will be provided when the tour returns.
9:00 AM: Optional San Diego City tour and harbor Cruise departs. Today
is discover San Diego Day. Your tour today will feature a fully narrated
city tour highlighted by a stop in Old town -where San Diego really
began. Explore the many historical buildings and archives while you
learn some of San Diego's "real" history. Also featured will
be a trip to Coronado Island where the US Navy Seals train (it's
doubtful if you'll see any of them). The island is also home to the
beautiful Coronado Hotel. Point Loma, one of the most beautiful spots in
California, is also on the agenda. Lunch is included in the tour price.
You're sure to enjoy the narrated San Diego Harbor Cruise. As you cruise
the harbor see the war ships at the Navy base and learn about the many
activities that are "home ported" in San Diego. This will be a
great day - one you're sure to enjoy and remember. Things maybe done in
a little different sequence than described, but everything will be
included. This is an optional trip. The cost is not included in either
option. You must register separately, see the registration form. There
is a thirty-five person minimum per bus. If less than thirty-five
persons are registered on the cut off date (June 26) the tour will be
cancelled, or your balance due adjusted to cover the difference.
6:00 PM: Social Hour begins. Enjoy your favorite beverage from the cash
bar while you socialize with your shipmates and their ladies.
7:00 PM: It's Luau time! Set your appetites for one of the grandest
buffets you've ever feasted upon. Everything will be done in a Hawaiian
theme, including the guests. Every person is encouraged to dress
Hawaiian style. Following dinner you'll be entertained by a troupe of
Hawaiian dancers, who will expect some audience participation. So
ladies, wear your favorite hula skirt, and gents, wear the ugliest
flowery shirt you can find. This will be a fun filled evening where you
are expected to let your hair hang down and enjoy the company of your
friends. Cost of the luau is included in both Option A and Option B.
Saturday July 28:
7:30 AM-8:30 AM: Breakfast will be on your own this morning. Eat at your
leisure during this hour, keeping in mind when the tour departs.
9:00 AM: Optional tour. You'll start this day with a trip to the Navy
Base, where we hope to be able to go on board an active duty ship. Keep
in mind the Commanding Officer of the base exercises total control of
access. Following the base visit, you'll take a quick trip for some
sightseeing and shopping to Mexico's famous and notorious Tijuana where
"solid gold" necklaces and gen-u-ine Rolex watches are
guaranteed not to turn your skin green. Lunch is included in the tour
price. You'll return to the hotel around 4:00 PM. There is a thirty (30)
person per bus minimum for the tour to go. You'll return to the hotel

4:30 PM: Business Meeting to decide where to go next year.
7:00 PM: Pre-banquet cocktail hour with cash bar & photo session.
Relax in the company of your old and new friends. Be sure to have your
photo taken for inclusion in the post-reunion book.
7:00 PM: USS ENGLAND Banquet. Enjoy your last night in a more formal
setting. Coat and tie recommended for the gentlemen and corresponding
dress for the ladies. If you can still wear a complete uniform, please
do so! Cost of the banquet is included in all options.
Sunday July 29:
8:00 AM: Farewell breakfast buffet. Immediately after the meal, the
memorial service will be held. Here you will have the opportunity to pay
respects to your deceased shipmates. Following the service, gladness
gives way to sadness. Handshakes and hugs are expected and tears are
authorized. Join us next year.
